Nature-based Climate Action as a Key Instrument for Achieving Germany's Climate Target
Since 2023, Germany has been implementing the Federal Action Plan on Nature-based Solutions for Climate and Biodiversity (ANK), a programme of unprecedented thematic breadth, long-term approach and financial resources. The side event presents the recommendations of the Scientific Advisory Board for Nature-based Climate Action (WBNK) for the further development of the Action Plan. The event will particularly focus on peatland restoration and rewetting on different continents. German experts will share insights how the German Action Plan can unlock potentials and enable the rapid implementation of nature-based climate action and social participation through practical and innovative approaches. The German example will be complemented by experiences from Brazil, Uganda and Indonesia showcasing successful NbS strategies for peatlands.
