Monique Barreto Galvão

Monique Galvão is the Vice President at Rare in Brazil, where she has led initiatives for over seven years dedicated to advancing environmental conservation and sustainable development. With more than 20 years of experience in project management and consulting across sectors such as telecommunications, finance, and non-governmental organizations, she brings a wealth of expertise and strategic vision to her work.
At Rare, Monique spearheads efforts focused on the Amazon Coast, collaborating with government bodies, the private sector, academic institutions, community leaders, and NGOs to strengthen marine protected areas in northern Brazil. Under her leadership, Rare has successfully mobilized and connected over 50 organizations to drive impactful environmental action.
Monique holds degrees in administration and information systems, as well as an MBA in socio-environmental business. A passionate advocate for ESG principles, she has contributed to national environmental councils in Brazil and co-authored two books. Having traveled to more than 40 countries, Monique brings a global perspective to her mission of preserving ecosystems and empowering communities.
