Hemal Kamat

Hemal Kamat is a social development professional and climate advocate with over 15 years of experience in community-led sustainability initiatives. She serves as Co-Chair of the Voluntary Action Network India (VANI), a national network of over 500 voluntary organizations, where she champions policies that strengthen civil society’s role in climate resilience and sustainable development.

She has led numerous grassroots projects on natural resource management, women’s empowerment, and climate adaptation—ranging from water conservation and sustainable agriculture to renewable energy initiatives. Her work has empowered thousands of women and reduced local carbon emissions through practical, community-based solutions.
