Regine Schönenberg

Heinrich Böll Stiftung

Regine Schönenberg studied political science with an emphasis on conflict studies, international relations and development sociology at University of Bonn, London School of Economics, FU-Berlin and NAEA/UFPA/Belém/Brazil.
Academically, she is working on the criminalization of social transformation processes, the volatile nature of organized crime and its relationships with the state and civil society. For more than 30 years, her field-laboratory is the observation of forms and causes of Amazonian transformation processes. Currently, she is working as director of the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Rio de Janeiro.
Her interest for different types of knowledge and transdisciplinary methodologies to generate new knowledge within diverse cultural contexts integrates her different working fields.
