Jochen Flasbarth
Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN)Jochen Flasbarth has been the State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) since 2025. Prior to this, he served as State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and had previously held the position of State Secretary at the BMUKN from 2013. From 2009 to 2013, he was the President of the German Environment Agency (UBA) and from 2022 to 2025, he chaired the Supervisory Board of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). At the 2015 climate negotiations in Paris, he was a key German negotiator alongside Minister Barbara Hendricks, playing a crucial role in reaching a significant climate agreement and in international negotiations on climate and species protection.
