João Mattos
The Latin American and Caribbean Network of Fair Trade Small Producers and Workers (CLAC)Joao Mattos is an agronomist who graduated from the Federal University of Viçosa - Brazil. For the last 32 years, he has worked in the production and roasting of specialty coffees. Fourteen years ago, he started in the Fairtrade system. In 2015 he assumed the position of Coffee Production and Market Coordinator in CLAC - Latin American Fair Trade Coordinator - then the position of Commercial Manager of Coffee Supply Chains and in the last two years as Commercial Director, supporting more than 1000 Fairtrade certified organizations in Latin America (coffee, cocoa, bananas, sugar, juices, fresh fruits, wine, etc.) in their linkage with the market. He is CLAC's representative in the ICO Task Forces for market transparency, Policies and Institutions Importing Countries, Decent and Prosperous Income, and Resilient Landscape (TWS 1, 2, 3, 4) working on issues such as new legislation on due diligence and deforestation and its implementation in small producers' organizations.
